       I'm fairly unexcited by "smart homes" and voice driven "smart" assistants, but I got a new kettle and it's neat that I can say "hey Google, put the kettle on" and it does.

       @ian these are also good at verifying you turned something off, so I have a HomeKit powerstrip, and I can turn it off by internet

       @ian I gave up on ours though,  because other people in the house would leave the kettle empty so I always had to walk over to check the fill level anyway

       @jamesh The key feature mine has is being able to set it to start at a certain time in the morning so I can make coffee as soon as I get up.
