Cultural preservation seems like an underrated argument for massively increasing longevity research. Nature is killing off entire generations that have their own unique cultures just as much as countries/cities do, and anything we do to preserve documents, architecture, art pales in comparison to actually keeping the people themselves alive.

To be clear, to me personally, by far the most important reason to preserve human life is because life is good in itself, far more important than any arguments about various forms of secondary value to other people. But it's worth acknowledging that all of this secondary value exists.

@vbuterin Many cultures emphasize the cycle of life and death, and removing death or diminishing its significance could impact their preservation. It raises questions about the fluid nature of culture and the role that loss plays in fostering growth and evolution.While efforts can be made to preserve aspects of culture, not everything can be preserved over time. Impermanence can also be seen as an opportunity for new cultures to emerge. The human experience is a dynamic process.

@vbuterin makes some sense but a bit esoteric not uncommon at your stature, eg, 'Everyone's on the same page as I so I will be terse & everyone who matters will get it.'I'm #GenX from #SiliconValley & its evolution is awful in ways not easy to see from a newer/foreign perspective. My family worked for a hardware company. Internet software wasn't so overbearing & ruinous. Most adults you knew didn't work in IT despite the name.Everyone like me is significantly richer or poorer than our parents (mostly related to homeownership) & we're scattered all over the country today. California is a deliberate homelessness crisis & no on really cares. Paradoxically, I believe #Coinbase is suited to #SF because The Fed bank is there, but most of the other Internet developments are part of the ruin. Why not Missouri?That's cultural preservation. You mean people dying in... Ukraine? Turkey?
