If you want to understand US presidential candidate #RobertKennedyJr's (#RFK) position on #Vaccines, just watch this short clip, where he answers some pretty tough questions during a Town Hall meeting. It takes someone with a lot of experience attacking government collusion, and taking polluters to court to touch such a difficult topic and emerge out of it intact. This goes beyond #Covid19 , and addresses the problem of #testing .https://twitter.com/TheChiefNerd/status/1674266437890744323

@bblfish You can smell the bullshit, though. He's the kind of guy that peddles every known false information about vaccines. Bullshit is easy to generate, hard to debunk. In this video, the red flag is the insistence on “long-term studies”, and that's b/c it's brought up by every science denier. The issue is: long-term studies are hardly relevant, hardly controlled, and when we have actual long-term RCTs, science deniers will find a reason to dismiss them, moving the goal-posts.

@bblfish I've seen this pattern in the "keto" community.Studies that aren't controlled, don't show causality, controlled long-term studies are very expensive. And we know of enough surogate markers for health, which can be measured with enough precision, to make many long-term studies useless.Speaking of diet (or vaccines, actually) controlled long-term studies actually exist. But then they are cherry-picked for not measuring the fad du jour or not being long enough.

@alexelcu wrote:> In this video, the red flag is the insistence on “long-term studies”, and that's b/c it's brought up by every science denier. How would asking for long-term studies be science-denying? That seems pretty important as the side effects of medication may be worse than the cure. He actually refers to a Dutch or Belgian Study that was done by looking at the data over 30 years in Africa, which found that though the var $measles (?) vaccine was curing $measles it led to girls dying of other causes presumably because their immune system was weakened. I would be interested to find a link to that study. If you are 80 and receiving a vaccine for Covid (or other vaccines), well your long-term prospects may not be that good anymore, so the risk is worth taking. But it was foolish I think to ask pregnant women to take vaccines that had only been tested for 6 months in the Covid case and not on pregnant women. And then they shut down the experiment after 6 months. That experience makes me a lot more inclined to believe Kennedy. They were so obviously bullshitting their way around during the epidemic. If you find that difficult to believe you may want to look at the film on the Opioid crisis Dopsisck which led to many fines including Johnson & Johnson paying $26 billion a year ago.https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9174558/I have a whole thread on reports on that issue. https://twitter.com/bblfish/status/1548068292215984128

@alexelcu Yes, Kennedy mentions a long term study that the Dutch or Belgians did after Bill Gates asked them about his work in Africa. It would be interesting to find that study.

@alexelcu He also mentined how Chickenpox vaccines led later to increase in Shingles. A very well published doctor wrote that up here with a link to the research paper.https://petermcculloughmd.substack.com/p/rfk-takes-dr-tariq-butt-to-school

@bblfish Can't discount the study, however, beware of observational studies because correlation isn't causation.Observational studies also suffer from recall bias, are often not generalizable, and only identify trends, or potential risks at best, but the suggested conclusions aren't corroborated in controlled experiments in a vast majority of cases.https://examine.com/guides/how-to-read-a-study/In other words, we should acknowledge that this study exists, but it doesn't say much.

@alexelcu Yes, that's just the way things are in empirical sciences, and as we said especially in biology. But it also goes for the claims that vaccines are safe. (Unless they are giving out Placebo of course)

@alexelcu Kennedy made the point that in the 1960s Autism, allergies, etc were nearly unknown. Autism was only visible in 1 to 20 thousand children. But now one in 37 children are Autistic. And this goes on for a lust of other chronic illnesses in America. This should put research into this at the top of the list of presidential priorities it seems to me because the combination of all of these means 1 in 4 (was that it?) children have a chronic illness now. Of course, obesity (which the WHO called an epidemichttps://www.who.int/activities/controlling-the-global-obesity-epidemic ) is very likely part of the problem. (But is this not related to unregulated food advertising? The undermining of social inhibitions against obesity? Ie. all kinds of problems created by reckless capitalism?) So research is needed into the causes. All possible causes. And Vaccines are a reasonable place of inquiry.Where before Covid I was a true believer, I became suspicious when they started pushing kids to be vaccinated, even though it later turned out that vaccines were not effective at stopping transmission, at stopping one to get the disease, and kids who did not have a chronic illness were not in danger at all. The finding that news cables were sponsored at 75% by the Pharma industry explains a lot. Here are some links I just found, I have not had the time to look into them all yet. After all, you and I are software engineers, not medical doctors, so we can only look on from the sidelines...But we should allow the doctors to debate.Dr. Paul Thomas presents vaxxed vs unvaxxed datahttps://rumble.com/v10dwcr-dr.-paul-thomas-blows-up-the-conventional-vaccine-narrativeincredible-peer-.htmlVaxxed vs unvaxxedhttps://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7268563/pdf/10.1177_2050312120925344.pdfHealth effectshttps://oatext.com/pdf/JTS-7-459.pdf?fbclid=IwAR35MFYf_t9FCMcPzMIimzjjVcZvaH6oik3La4a0SLnBxesNwFGa74jjH0wCHDhttps://childrenshealthdefense.org/wp-content/uploads/Vaxxed-Unvaxxed-Parts-I-XII.pdfGerman studyhttps://healthimpactnews.com/2011/new-study-vaccinated-children-have-2-to-5-times-more-diseases-and-disorders-than-unvaccinated-children/#sthash.NWC3sWb0.rbpQoxMN.uxfs

@bblfish My wife is a teacher and took some courses on autism from a local center. We got to local conferences and spoke to medical professionals who were formed during communist Romania. For one, autism was underdiagnosed. Only those not able to function in society at all got the diagnosis, and they were locked in filthy mental institutions, out of sight, out of mind. E.g., no Aspergers, no "spectrum."

@bblfish On obesity & diabetes, science is actually rock solid, current outcomes being a combination of:1. Genetics, influencing appetite & activity;2. Food is more palatable, available & cheaper, versus 85% of the population starving in 19th century;3. T2 diabetes is triggered by energy poisoning, i.e., the adipose tissue can reach a limit in storing excess energy. In 1960, people were poorer & a vast majority did not have running water, let alone healthcare.

@bblfish I too was disappointed by the authoritarianism in the #COVID19 response, but that was politics, and we have to keep in mind that mistakes are made when people get scared. Maybe humanity will handle the next pandemic better. My wife and I got 3 shots each, we were the first in line, and when we eventually got Covid-19, we barely had any symptoms. I also have asthma, & heard stories of terrible symptoms from other asthmatics.I would not force others, though. That's always a mistake.

@alexelcu Perhaps you were lucky and you got the Placebo batches.A recent Danish study found by comparing vaccine batches to side effects reported by their takers, that 1/3 of the vaccines had all the characteristics of Placebos.https://twitter.com/TheChiefNerd/status/1675131630611058689
