"Everyone has to bring in pictures of yourself as a child" is not going to be a fun team building activity for trans people or for people whose childhood was not a time they want to have to remember in front of coworkers.

@JessTheUnstill You don’t have to be trans to not want to relive your childhood. My work pulled that shit one year. I told them my parents house burned down and we lost all our family pictures.

@LeatherCubAndrew @JessTheUnstill I wasn't being dismissive My point was activities like that are bad ideas anyway you don't have to be trans for them to be bad you don't have to be gay for them to be bad they're just bad ideas in general employers should stop these team building activities that insist on their employees bringing in photos of their childhood That's all my point was.

@gme I'm cis but I'm also gay... I actually relive my childhood trauma rather frequently especially 30+ years later practically daily...But I think that trans people probably have a bit more than external traumas (like abuse, bullying, or betrayal) especially when trying to avoid outing themselves to their potentially unaccepting coworkers. I don't think it would be my place to say anything further on that.@JessTheUnstill

@LeatherCubAndrewYeah, I'm not trying to pull an oppression Olympics - lots of people don't want to show pictures of their childhood for any number of reasons. I just mentioned trans people because it is yet ANOTHER layer of potentially outing yourself and experiencing even more potential othering and social consequences than for cis folks.@gme
