#BlackMastodon May be interested to hear that Aveta, the community organizer in black tech Twitter has launched a defederated Calckey instance that will prioritize safety, privacy, and accessibility for minorities.I’ve been working with her and others and while launched it is still invite only as we address T&S, accessibility issues and how to best grow the platform focused on users.https://wibblur.socialbipoc people can DM me for an invite, if you’re willing to help us improve the onboarding experience give a shout as we have product people collecting data and they need volunteers. We're also looking for developers, product, UX, and other engineers to help improve the platform so do also reach out if you are interested.@blackmastodon@a.gup.pe @BlackMastodon@chirp.socialEdit: To be clear I’m creating invite codes and not sitting on one.

@eveiswurzig @blackmastodon@a.gup.pe @BlackMastodon@chirp.social Aveta is mentioned in this article as the person trying to herd people to Bluesky.https://techcrunch.com/2023/06/08/blueskys-growing-pains-strain-relationship-with-its-black-community-moderation/Given the stratospheric level of naivete (naivete, at best) required to run straight from one Jack Dorsey-created trashfire to another, "better" one......how has the Aveta person shown that they are not massively gullible and/or easily convinced to do the wrong thing because it's techie, trendy, shiny and new?(Defederation is encouraging.)

@onlybrownmastodon @blackmastodon@a.gup.pe @BlackMastodon@chirp.social that is a fair question but it’s important to consider that for getting out of Twitter there aren’t a lot of options. Mastodon didn’t hold up due to UX issues and racism/discrimination on large instances and across the FediVerse. Bsky there was an assumption that getting in while it was small would allow us to drive the community and for a time it looked that way. What the article missed is that the devs (and Jay) were treating the instance as a protocol test and wouldn’t recognize that there was a community until things got very hostile with Aveta with death threats. And they changed the TOC as maybe things were just heated and they didn’t mean it but that person came back a day later and quite literally clarified that they meant it. For wibblur there’s a whole group of different backgrounds working together to make the right decisions and develop CoC/T&S from the start.
