@xerz Horrific.This timeline is bad enough. I definitely don't want THAT one.Where is the timeline where Commodore Amigas never died? That is the only one with branded personal computers which I care about.

@teajaygrey …probably the one where IBM never released a PC because they thought it would cannibalize sales while drastically reducing margins, Steve's Apple would have still alienated their userbase with expensive computers that broke backwards compatibility – although it would have very unlikely been a Commodore, as investors would have been more interested in Amiga, and also companies like Atari and TI would have taken clearly different paths

@teajaygrey …probably the one where IBM never released a PC because they thought it would cannibalize sales while drastically reducing margins, while Steve's Apple would have still alienated their userbase with expensive computers that broke backwards compatibility – although it would have very unlikely been a Commodore, as investors would have been more interested in Amiga, and also companies like Atari and TI would have taken clearly different pathspersonally not like I mind too much tho, the Amiga architecture is still not perfect, no idea how well the owners would have treated it like, and we were going to abstract away from low level anyway

@xerz There's also a world where IBM started working on low power CPU designs about 5 years earlier than in our reality, so Apple didn't have to switch to Intel, and OpenPOWER is now taking over the world.
