I have heard that a few people reached out to Meta to find out what they were doing and (maybe?) signed an NDA. There’s a bunch of people being absolute a-holes to instance admins and admins to each other. I see increasingly ornate catastrophizing like in the screenshots linked above, and anyone who refutes them or points out it’s nonsense is labeled a shill, so no, I really don’t want to talk about it. If and when I understand what they’re up to and how, I’ll take action, likely along with the rest of the instance admins. In the mean time, I’m not going to participate or add fuel to the hand-wringing hate machine that is emerging here.

@mastodonmigration They are under an NDA, if they speak legally they will pay a dear price (likely cost them their servers)... You will have to trust their character and that they wouldnt make backroom deals, because you cant expect them to break an NDA.@Gargron @ruud @jerry @supernovae @stux @trumpet @kev

@mastodonmigration There is a reason I didnt agree to a NDA or have a discussion, I agree... That said if they didnt sign the NDA in this situation the only real difference so far would just be that they wouldnt know anything (like me) and couldnt comment... @mastodonmigration I am not aware of any secret deals with Meta. As far as I can tell people are just making stuff up. There is little to comment on until Meta's platform launches.

(and more)There was no deal signing or any bullshit like that - that’s all fake news.The nda is because none of this stuff is released and it’s up to meta to share details or admins to join the ongoing calls to learn in advance of launch what is going on.I don’t know why this blew up like it did.It’s admins doing due diligence ahead of a major product launch and getting access to engineers on the teams making it happen.That’s it.

Because the product isn’t released yet, there is an NDA. The initial contacts have been positive and there is no reason your admin couldn’t talk to them if they wished.we were going blind into the news and i said i refuse to be blind and coordinated early discussions of many.due diligence.
