It's better to have too much than too little. A 4090 will be able to keep up with all that stuff but if you're running multiple games then you may be CPU bottlenecked, since the CPU has to split its workload between both games. Depending on how intensive those games are, the GPU should take most of the work load but it still requires the CPU to send it data.

@Matty@nicecrew.digital then you may be CPU bottleneckedhow can i tell if it's cpu or gpu making fps so low when running multiple games now that im on higher resolution? i assumed it was the gpu but i dont actually know.

What CPU do you have? And why are you running multiple games? What games are they? Some games are more GPU intensive, and some are more CPU intensive. It all depends on how they're optimized.

@Matty@nicecrew.digital i have ryzen 5 3600i used to run 2 instances of ffxiv (because i have 2 characters) and then sometimes launch another game like drg to play a few matches while staying online in ffxiv. no frame issues at all. i can still run 2 instances of 14 (it has framelimit while tabbed out option) but cannot run 1 instance of 14 with 1 instance of drg, both become unplayably slow

it also uses the AM4 slot, so there's a decent chance you can upgrade to it without upgrading the mobo

oh nice, if CPU bottlenecking is the issue you can very easily upgrade to a 5900x/5950x.

Whatever DRG is sounds like it takes up too much of your processor speed. If you upgrade to a 4090, you're going to be CPU bottlenecked regardless. I would really recommend you not try to run so many games at the same time.

Sure but the more load you add to the computer the worse it'll perform, no matter what. You don't have infinite resources!

don't worry about your PC skills, @Owl fried 2 3060s. I don't know how she fried the other one, but she fried one by washing it with windex to "get rid of the oil".If that's the case, just try enabling Nvidia DLSS and see how it goes.

GPU may be the more important upgrade, but I'm not really sure you're in a pretty good spot with your CPU, because you have a very wide range of things to upgrade to with your AM4 slot mobo.
