@wgiwf @Some_German_Guy It's bizarre, because what aren't we seeing. Wagner doesn't have the manpower or logistics on its own to pose a threat to Putin, so either they have another advantage, or Prigozhin has simply gone nuts. Disappointing, though, since this may harm the soldiers at the front, after three weeks straight of absolutely crushing the Ukrainian offensive. If this gives Ukraine an advantage in the field, it would be a disaster.

As it stands, Wagner on its own doesn't have that kind of strength, so what's the angle? Wagner is entirely reliant on the Russian regular military for all its supply and logistics, so they can't operate for long on their own. Looking at it from a distance, it seems like a lost cause, which makes me wonder what Prigozhin/his CIA handlers have hidden up their sleeve. Are they counting on a significant portion of the Russian military siding with Prigozhin?

@AlbinoMutant @AidanTTIerian @wgiwf @Some_German_Guy Yeah, I noticed that, on top of his ridiculous claims regarding the "real" casualty numbers on the Zaparozhye front, which a) he couldn't have known because Wagner never served on that line, and he'd been rotated out of combat long before it started, and he isn't actually in the Russian MoD chain of command and thus not privy to any "secret real numbers", and b) if his claims were true the situation on that front would be completely different, and Russia would not have been able to hold Ukraine at the line of contact for 3 weeks straight. You're right, this was clearly designed to happen around a Uke counteroffensive that had played out entirely differently, rather than one that was a massive embarrassment for Ukraine.

Maybe not overthrow the Kremlin, but perhaps he was coming for Shoigu’s job and wanted to climb the ladder of power using Wagner’s prestige. He underestimated the popularity of Putin and his steadfastness towards Shoigu. Perhaps he’s sincere in his allegations of corruption, but he said some rambunctious things before this happened and seemed to say the SMO was a mistake founded on lies spouted from Shoigu.

This is a very interesting theory. I can imagine a scenario where Prigozhin's zog gayop was supposed to pop off coordinated with the "winning Ukrainian offensive". The offensive failed but Prigozhin preparations got noticed and it was either getting arrested next morning, or going for broke.
