What cloud back-up service do y'all like?I use Time Machine right now, but there was a small house fire on my street (everyone is fine), and I started thinking, "You know, off site backup isn't a bad idea."

@grammargirl I use Backblaze for offsite backups. It’s been pretty effectual.

@grammargirl I have tried all of them. One drive works well but Google Drive also has a backup system that automatically syncs selected folders. The issue I had with Time Machine is that it often made back ups of backups which vastly increased the size of the backup file exponentially. That might have been an issue with the settings or operator error but I have never had that issue with either one drive or google drive. Recovering from catastrophic failure was easy too.

@grammargirl my PCs and Macs are all on BackBlaze. I even use their B2 service for my Synology NAS. Has been rock solid and I've even had them ship me a hard drive of my backup files when I had a hard crash once. Was very easy.

@grammargirl I use Time Machine for backup, but I do most of my work on iCloud rather than on my home computers. But I should think about off-site backup, too.

@grammargirl Backblaze all the way. I used Crashplan for a while before that, but it was Java-based and not very Mac-like.

@grammargirl I've used Backblaze for almost 20 years and it's been great. Thankfully I've never had a disk failure but have a relative who did (almost a terabyte of photos & videos) and they said it was really easy, Backblaze mailed them a USB drive and detailed instructions.I will never understand why Apple hasn't added a Time Machine service to iCloud, seems like a no-brainer. 🤷♂️

Wow, everyone really likes BackBlaze! I don't think I've ever gotten such uniform recommendations. BackBlaze it is.

@grammargirl BackBlaze saved my vegan bacon a few years ago when my HD failed and I was able to get a portable with all of my data shipped overnight. Truly the most “set it and forget it” backup option I’ve ever used. Totally worth it.

@grammargirl I've paid a very small monthly fee for iCloud backup for a couple of decades (to the best of my recollection). So happy with that option every time I set up a new device. Super fast and easy.

@grammargirl Don't give up your local storage (redundancy is good), but it's also what I've seen most recommended by friends.

@grammargirl I mainly rely on Dropbox, but not in an automated way. I have a handmade file structure and save material on the fly.

@grammargirl: pCloud does full backups too now. It’s already one of the best cloud services available. https://www.pcloud.com/backup
