@mildsunrise not only moderation issues, huge instances just aren't healthy for a federated network.

@mildsunrise its interconnected.Technically, federation doesn't make sense if everyone uses the same server and same software. So why would a person explore the network if there is a generic huge instance for them?Socially, it doesn't give the needed exposure for new users because the starting point -- the local timeline is useless now, it's just a never ending flood of random people.

@mildsunrise that's why I'm also against generic instances. They also tend to increase in size.This also makes moderation worse, stressful, tedious, like it's a job. That's how huge generic instances also get trolls and nazis problem. Maybe they would solve this but then they don't have enough hands and energy to do anything.
