       ok i changed the cpu cooler successfullythe good news is that my cpu is running much cooler. it was getting to 90 during games and now its at 58but the fans are still screaming periodically when i play games. i thought it was the cpu fan this whole time but it's some other fan ​:akko_cry:​ i can't figure out which fan!!! the hottest component rn is the gpu and it's only like 79c max during games which i thought was normal for nvidia ​:blobcatgoogly:​ ?? why does it scream

       @emma nope but i might move it to something cheaper for what it is. the problem is it's so disk heavy because misskey caches *everything* and i dont have time to watch it

       @emma @emma most likely one of your fans has a bad bearing. Try downloading some software that allows you to manually control your fans then turn them up to max one by one until the noise starts.

       @infodork@poa.st yea i did that and i think it's the gpu fan. it works fine it just goes to 100% for seemingly no reason. it overrides fan control. i searched online and it seems a few people with the same model gpu as me as well as 1 other that's similar have the same issue after a certain driver update and their solution was to downgrade to an earlier version. idk if i wanna do that though

       @emma @emma can I ask what model of video card you're using? Also I'm assuming you're using the driver from AMD or Nvidia?

       @infodork@poa.st nvidia rtx 2070 super and it's on latest driver from the nvidia app thingyi think it's just a temperature problem my house is really warm right now and i just got an ultrawide so games need a bit more work
