Originally I was planning to build a Voron 0 as my second 3D printer, but now that I learned about the Positron V3 I’m not so sure anymore. It’s so tiny :nacho_look:

@mia smol voron 2.4 whoawhat’s fun about the positron is that I could easily travel with it and take it to events

@yuri@social.nekover.se (got the UHF version since the UHF bit is just an adapter)

@mia ah ok, I was thinking about getting a Dragon HF since I won’t be printing super fast anyway. Or just keep my stock Ender 3 hotend and see if it will become a bottleneck.

@yuri@social.nekover.se had a dragon hf before that, it’s alright but quality of life is a little better with the rapido. nozzle swaps are easier (can also do that without removing the silicone sock), the heating element is really fast, and flow rate is a bit higher. also seems a bit more durable in case you need to take it apart for any reason (dragon hf has tiny hex screws that strip relatively easily, and there’s a ceramic shield thing that is very brittle)

@mia After printing some things I’m really happy with the rapido! I like how fast it is heating up. Thanks for the recommendation!!I’m still having an issue with ABS/ASA though. When I don’t use the part cooling fan at all overhangs will curl up which results in very messy overhangs. I tried using the part cooling fan on a very slow setting, but then the layer adhesion was poor. I’m now experimenting with running the part cooling fan only for outer perimeters and bridges at different speeds, but I don’t know if that’s the right approach. Do you use the part cooling fan at all for ABS?

@yuri@social.nekover.se usually I set it to 30% for enclosed ABS prints. i don’t have layer adhesion issues unless the filament is wet or the temperature is too low (245-255°C seems to work for the filaments i’ve used).i also recommend setting internal and external perimeters to the same speed to avoid stress warping. there’s no reason these should be different.

@yuri@social.nekover.se if overhangs still cause problems you can also try changing the perimeter width
