So I notice some stuffs about Meta inviting instance admins under NDA. And Meta, possibly connecting to the Fediverse? It seems there isn't a lot known yet for what I could find quickly. Anyone has some more info/background on it? #mastoadmin #project92 #meta

@xvilo I'm wondering how difficult can it be to connect to a FOSS-based Fediverse? Not sure what all the fuss is about other than it supposedly resembles Twitter, and has verification (FFS Verified). People must like their content being "Controled" if they want to flock to something that #meta owns?I had to track down this to get a feel for what this is all about: https://www.forbes.com/sites/mollybohannon/2023/06/10/metas-twitter-challenger-nicknamed-project-92-could-launch-soon-heres-what-to-know/?sh=6b66b08a3271

@dick_turpin it would be easy to do, especially for a new platform and/or a company as big as meta. It’s implementing activity pub and then they’ll federate with us as any other instance. I think a lot of people just don’t like Meta and might be scared for an influx of trolls. That’s not really a new thing right now. It could also about gathering data, but they could already do this. It doesn’t make sense (business wise) to make it compatible for Meta

@xvilo Maybe they think that ALL the Twitter migrants are still here and that by building a bridge to the Fediverse it will enable an easy migration to #project92 or at the very least, poach users?I note one of the USPs' they're extolling is the easy migration from Instagram to Project92, which is weird encouraging your users to move from one of your platforms to another of your platforms?

@xvilo @dick_turpin I could see that they might 1) want to federate internally so that they can make individual walled gardens for each countries laws and 2) Protect themselves against antitrust/etc by providing a standardised interface.
