.art has been unblocked because it was a bad decsion from my part to block the whole community instead of the nasty admin..Unblocked the domain and suspended the adminI'm afraid it's only a matter of time before that admin is gonna look for things to ban usThat's what they do

@stux It's not possible to not make mistakes but it is possible to learn from mistakes. Well done.The power to add to a public block list with no responsibilities to review that block at a later date is guaranteed to (1) accumulate blocks by bad actors (2) accumulate blocks by mistake (3) embed bad actor blocks and mistake blocks into the fediverse. Public block lists are trust misplaced if there's no review process.I'm all for blocks by anyone for any or no reason. But w/o review? Nah.

@stux it was the right decision to unblock the domain and admit it was a rushed choice on your part. No worries, we all do mistakes sometimes. It's important to learn from this experience.Thus I could grasp at least a couple of points as feed forward: 1) consider establising an Announcements mechanism where people decent heads-up about such a wide-impacting action.2) openly mention future issues to the Community you have here, perhaps via a Poll, as their Input help your decision-making.

@stux Thanks! I too applaud your introspection and courage to revert a decision. We all make mistakes, that's okay, and moderation is a tough and thankless job most of the time anyway. But this reversal is, I think, quite important for the health of the fediverse as a whole, so I'm glad it was made.

@stux I'm glad - mainly for your own peace as an admin - that you've unblocked .art.Fully with you on the personal block, though - and thanks for reminding me of the welshpixie alt. I foolishly followed-back when I switched instances. I didn't migrate normally (old account is still live) and it got through as a result of her husband and the South African connection and a flood of new followers. I'd clashed with her before over local issues - and "nasty" is a good summary there, too.

@stux youre not wrong. I actually always cite .art as how NOT to run a mastodon instance. To their credit, they replied to my post and were very courteous.But the kind of people they courted, who were present in their replies… exemplified the kind of culture they were creating and its a hideous thing:I was being snarky and commented that their policy of banning whole instances for single-user problems was like… shutting down all of deviantart because a posted once.Then this brain trust…
