       @zaherg these are called LTS update channels. a concept often lost of the FOSS ecosystem.

       @jeff it depends on the ecosystem you are looking at, plus I don't think FOSS ecosystem should support LTS unless it is a paid one.

       @zaherg i don't know if there is an ecosystem that isn't FOSS that lacks LTS update channels for software. this is a problem that is almost by definition exclusive to it as the vast majority of FOSS projects have no commercial entity to maintain such endeavors which is why they die out and fragment so often.

       @jeff "the vast majority of FOSS projects have no commercial entity" this is the main cause.plus, some companies who depends on FOSS ecosystem does not like LTS as it means they will sell less hardware, android phones as example, not all companies will provide you with decent LTS because they are hardware companies more than software one

       @jeff so basically its not the FOSS ecosystem, it companies or users who are not ready/or can't (or simply don't want) provide a good financial support to provide LTSand most of the time, LTS cause distraction in the development path, especially with small teams
