@dave How am I as a podcast creator supposed to find the guid of a show that I want to list within #podroll?

@volunteertechnologist It will ultimately be baked into podcaster tools. It’s brand new so not much support yet. It would be a manual process now if you hand curate your feed.

@volunteertechnologist Specifically, you’d have to go to that feed and look at the xml and grab the guid. Or get it from the index or @brianoflondon’s lookup system. This will all come together soon.

@dave @brianoflondon gotcha. I’d assumed I could look at a feed but the two hosted at fireside I checked only had item level guids. I looked at the web interface of the index and didn’t see it, but haven’t checked the api. I remember hearing about @brianoflondon having something but can’t remember where it is either.

@volunteertechnologist @dave https://guid.podping.org/docscheck the api calls there, lookup by RSS feed URL is probably what you need.

Thanks @brianoflondon! #Buzzsprout is game to add #podroll for me so I’ll dig into that today. I figure the more of us that put it to use, the more app devs and hosting providers are incentivized to surface it. @dave

@volunteertechnologist @brianoflondon Straight up. It’s also a great quality signal for aggregators to discover feed popularity.

@dave @brianoflondon FWIW, /podcastIndexId/{podcastIndexId} was the endpoint I found easiest to use: I looked up the show on the index's website and then copied the id from the address bar and pasted it into the try it now box on https://guid.podping.org/docs
