@NurseRatched Yeah, hand sewing does bring on the heartache. But nothing looks more elegant. I can always tell the best seamstresses by their hand finishing. When I see other peopleās work I always look at the hems to see if they skimped on this step.When I apprenticed, I was taught to always, always, ALWAYS turn up my hems on my drapes, shower curtains, dust ruffles and any clothing, and finish them BY HAND. NO EXCEPTIONS.You are the best, woman!

@TinyHouse4Life Tension is a must to master with your machine...different fabrics will require you to adjust it...so nows a good time as any to get accustomed to your machines tension dial and purpose.Get your manual out...your machine threaded and some scrap fabric to work on. A tension dial is typically set around a 5 for most sewing. The biggest problem people run into is threading while the presser foot is down...it needs to be up while feeding thread thru tension discs.

@TinyHouse4Life Side note...make sure your machine is threaded correctly. Threads coming off spool in correct direction....thread coming off bobbin in correct direction. Make sure you have a straight needle and that the flat side of needle is in correct position.Once all checked and correct...you can work on your tension.

@Omega_Variant @NurseRatched It's harder than it looks. I've taken mine to a professional seamstress 2x and she gets it all set for me. Then I come home and ruin it within 15 minutes. I did crank these out last week. Wasn't too bad to hand sew.

@NurseRatched @MegasAlexandros So cute. Reminds me when I was a kid my mother had this very old English lady who was my grandmother's best friend and a seamstress. She made all our clothes and in fact made my wedding dress, 6 bridesmaid's dresses, my mother and grandmother's dresses for 300 bucks! We bought all the material. She was 105 when she passed and was blind but would still make those little felt mice for the church bazzar. Her daughter gave me her button collection when she passed. ā¤ļø
