       @KimPeralesIf they will obstruct a Supreme Court nomination, they WILL obstruct a judiciary committee appointment. This is the opposite case from Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who SHOULD HAVE resigned but did not.

       @KimPerales@scenario@mastodon.socialIn her last election in 2018, there was a weak field of candidates. She ended up in the fall election against Democrat Kevin de Leon, who brought shame to the LA City Council and was censured in about 2020. I've met them both. I organized a fund-raiser for Feinstein in 1992. I think she should have taken Boxer's advice and retired. There would have been a much better group of candidates in 2018.

       @KimPerales Gendered agism, like all -isms, work because they short-cut reason by resting on deeply supported cultural biases. That's the hook of populism. There's nothing "innocent" about buying into and perpetuating those biases. There's complicity in doing so. They are often unwittingly complicit, but not innocently.

       @mizblueprint Thanks, I don't live in LA, so wasn't very familiar with de Leon, but something seemed off to me from what I'd read. We were essentially forced to vote for Feinstein. I think she meant well, but should've taken the advice to retire in 2018.
