@Stellar Did you know that "a pony" taught me in Second Life how the black border lines of "cartoon" 3D models like the one you showed are drawn?The original 3D object ("X" in my example) has an external crust ("(" and ")" in my example), like this: (X)The external crust has the normal vectors reversed (pointing to the center of the object when the usual orientation would be to outside). This means that the crust is invisible from outside but visible from inside and from the side. The distance between the crust and the object determines the perceived thickness of the black contour.
