@animeirl@shitposter.club i view the lite and the dsi part of the DS family which i actually meant in my statement, if we are talking abt the best ds its either a tossup between the ds lite or the dsi. i never had the dsi but it seems cool cuz u can have a sd card on which u can run homebrew on while still using the ds card slot to play your physical games, i rly wanna get myself one second hand whenever i go 2 japan (since used consoles r cheap there and iwant a japanese one cuz im a weeb). ds lite doesnt have the sd slot but a gba slot so which one is better depends on da person cc @m@pl.nulled.red

@vivi I remember when it was first announced and I was thinking “wow this is so weird and unwanted, nobody will ever buy this and they’ll go right back to selling new Game Boys. I guess this is why nobody has put me in charge of product development.

@aceattveg@mastodon.social i cant relate to normie gamers well so idk what they thought of it but like overall the double screen thing wasnt that bad. for a lot of games it ended up just being a second screen for menus with optional touch controls. which is actually kinda cool, you have instant access to menus or can view info that would have otherwise been hud elements and covered up the view. even the stuff that focused on using touch controls did so really well. i could have done without the zeldas using the touchscreen but they still worked surprisingly well, strategy games basically got mouse controls which is cool and things like wario ware were rly fun toomaybe im nostalgia blinded but i like to think i'm not. i had a wii as well and nowdays i could totally do without it's motion control stuff tbh

@vivi I had both a DS and PSP and I liked them both for different things. The DS is where the Phoenix Wright series came to the US and that right there makes it a great system to me. I also was absolutely obsessed with Elite Beat Agents.I used to rent DS games through a mail service and tried all kinds of stuff.

@aceattveg@mastodon.social it is a lot of money and i practically never buy at launch but honestly i actually respect publishers for it. ik this is an unpopular opinion but iirc they have barely raised prices over like the last 20-30 years? so inflation has totally outpaced them at this point. i just wish i could like, u know, own what i bought……

@aceattveg@mastodon.social haha not surenhow to feel abt launchers as well, literally all the other ones besides steam feel bothersome but then its like “ok do u want there to be no launchers beside steam? do u want like steam to have an even bigger monopoly than it alreafy has?” idk thats like the eternal question, witj streaming services as well. its like its nice that there is competition but in use its like agnoy figuring out which streaming service in which country has the movie i wanna watch in original dub its actually so awful
