Wow is the new season of Black Mirror pure shit. I could only get through one episode before I gave up. Did they get rid of all the previous writers? The standard in quality is so blatantly different. Plot holes, pacing issues, bizarre set ups. Sucks because the series was so good in the beginning. I sort of dread what a season seven would look like.

The move to Netflix and the US killed it. Charlie Brooker is still involved, but under Netflix is become shallower and shallower. It feels presumptuous and snobby to say it's bad because it's using an American setting now, but the best episodes in the Netflix era have usually been the ones set in the UK and it lacks the wit and nuance that made the first two seasons so good.

@Manatee1245 I don't disagree it's just that this season in particular or at least the one episode of it that I watched was egregious. The plot hole in the premise, the terrible twist, the pacing. It was just really fucking awful in its execution and I was pretty blown away when comparing that to the earlier seasons.

@Jim @Manatee1245 Felt like black mirror hadn’t really been exciting as the first season. A lot of the twists were predictable and the same. Was hoping for a twilight zone successor, but it never got there.

E3 was decent and there were no fags or minorities but ofc they had to set it in an alternate timeline 1960s where they had lifelike cybernetic robot vessels but no computers.

@dew_the_dew @Manatee1245 E3 is the one I watched lmfao. The entire episode was a shit show right off the start due to a massive plot hole in the premise. You have a society that has the technology to create replicants for astornauts so you send up real people who then come back to earth in robot bodies for R&R. The massive problem is logistically and financially it would make more sense for the reverse. If you sent replicants that were piloted from Earth instead. Then your space vessel doesn't need to carry oxygen, food, water. Suddenly weight is reduced and fuel consumption is altered. It's also safer because if the ship blows up you lose drones rather than people. That is a massive fucking issue with the premise. Then the twist is what? lol oops hippies killed my wife and kids and your wife wouldn't play with my robot penis so I killed them lol. Sorry bro. Like come on. The potential for an episode like that could have been great. Replicants piloting a space vessel either encountering aliens that end up thinking humanity is robotic in nature or hijacking the signal and using the replicant bodies for first contact or a million other things. I just got massively annoyed with the episode, threw my hands up, and said fuck it.

@Jim Brooker is an interesting fellow and a bit of a trailblazer. He cultivated that boorish but incisive cultural commentator persona that became a staple of YouTube, years before it was a thing. It was strange watching him continue to rail against the system even as he was slowly absorbed by it. He is a smart man and I am sure he was completely aware of the irony of what was happening. There comes a time where, if you are given the opportunity to make serious money and marry Konnie Huq, you'd be a fool to say no.His early shtick has been appropriated The Critical Drinker.
