       @stux When to connect to an SMTP server, nope.The ports are just for incoming connections.

       @stux Is that a docker-compose file? If so then ports is for incoming requests, so it shouldn't be that which is blocking your outgoing SMTP connections.

       @stux since you are using an internal network between Lemmy containers the port is accessible through that network. If you expose the ports you mentioned to host by adding them to ports, then you would be able to access those ports from outside (if there is no firewall or accessing to those ports are allowed). The decision is yours. If you want to access your email server for example using thunderbird, then you should expose it. Otherwise you can keep it private.
