So I took ADHD medication for the first time today, a few hours ago.So far, I do feel more focused. My mind is more empty, I feel no need to fidget.I even decided I would write an email today:pogscott: But I haven't tried to do something productive yet (will in a moment)The effect is more subtle than I thought. It didn't change my state of mind in a night-and-day way, which actually reassures me a bit However, I also feel anxious, and my heart rate is a bit higher than usual. I don't know if this is because of the medication though, I am also scared about taking it and this could be why I feel that way.I don't have my blood pressure monitor here but I'll check it when I get back home in a few days.Haven't noticed any other effect.

@jeder@miau.jeder.pl yeah I know it can be a side effect of it, but I don't know for sure if it is the case here, I will be careful and monitor my blood pressure later on!

For info, I took 20 mg of methylphenidate hydrochloride, which corresponds to 17.3 mg of methylphenidate, which shouldn't be too much.

@iro_miya that sounds about right, it basically 'speeds you up' (it's pretty much just the street drug speed, but a medically safe version). If you try and do stuff (particularly anything physical) you'll find you have lots more energy. The first day I took it I mostly ran around cleaning 😅But that will wear off as you get used to it. Then they increase your dose, repeat. Think I ended up 4x higher than the initial dose.I found it helped a bit, not lots, but also increased my anxiety levels a lot, so I stopped.
