I pay my mail provider #MailboxOrg with direct IBAN payment from my bank (from 🇫🇮 to 🇩🇪). Meaning I pay them when I want, from which account I want, and I don't need to give them any bank or credit card details.More services should have this option.

@nicd @raucao Several countries, although it's illegal, will charge you a commission on international SEPA transfers, though. I know all or most major banks in Spain and Portugal do that.

@stevenroose @raucao True. It's free for me for paying to Germany, at least to Mailbox. But I wasn't able to pay a friend in the UK (before Brexit).

@Lightrider Hijacked how and why doesn't it work? I've been using both successfully. I think in the last few weeks I've done more lightning payments than card payments and more failed card payments than failed lightning payments.

@stevenroose it's expensive compared to #bch, price inflated due to the rampant #tetherfraud, the hijacking was done by Adam back and his blockstream henchmen and the communities on Reddit and the Bitcoin forum were radicalized toward those destructive ends and those who opposed the intentional crippling of Bitcoin were kicked out of those communities. Lightning is complex inefficient technical debt that is incapable of serving any significant portion of global population. It will fail.

@Lightrider Well just for the record I disagree with all your points. Have you ever used a lightning wallet and found some places that accept it? It's faster than contactless cards and I almost never pay more than 1 or 2 cents per tx.
