The previous photo reminded me that my family had this in a box of old photos. I found out it is one of the tunnel liners being transported to Lucky Peak Dam thanks to the attached advertisement. #IdahoHistory #Boise

@IdahoLark Saw this at the Gauley River dam once, on a whitewater kayaking trip. It was near the put in. Not only the roar but the ground vibration were both pretty amazing.

@lindhartsen Those really created a mess, but only minor flooding in some basements and businesses thankfully. You know it's rained a lot when my xeriscape is growing moss and mushrooms!

@RichStein It is indeed LOUD! This dam's original outlet was designed as a "rooster tail" to reduce erosion in the river bed below. They open it when the reservoir gets too high in the spring, though not this year despite all the snow and rain we've had.
