If Reddit Goes Dark for only 48 hours absolutely nothing is going to change, and organizing another protest is going to be quite difficult, every subreddit that actually cares about fixing the API should stay offline until a better change is offered by #Reddit

@BrodieOnLinux I’m going to avoid Reddit unless I see change. Lemmy kbin and tildes are so-so alternatives, but this continual migration stuff kinda blows ngl.

@BrodieOnLinux Better option would be leaving Reddit for an alternative.

@BrodieOnLinux I discussed this with my friend a couple of days ago, this protest, to #Reddit is seen as "Hey we'll be closed for 3 days, see you after!"The only way is to remain offline, a sort of reverse #EternalSeptember

@BrodieOnLinux And in the meantime we should build communities on other services like Lemmy. Even if Reddit decides to fix the API pricing issue - it’s only a matter of time before they fuck up again.

@BrodieOnLinux the short duration made it easier to convince others to join the protest, otherwise there would be a lot of subs not joining. It showed that the community can unite, to both Reddit and redditors, and set up a situation where the threat of a longer protest / permanent exodus is very real to everyone. Pretty good move imo.

@BrodieOnLinux I've killed my 11yo account - whatever is offered now can just be taken away in the future

@Amikke It's not like being a Reddit mods makes you money, this is purely a case of people being too addicted too reddit to actually do something that matters

@BrodieOnLinux yup, that’s why an immediate long protest would’ve likely fizzled with too many communities not giving enough of a fuck to give up Reddit for who knows how long with who knows how much support from others. Now at least they know they’re united.

@BrodieOnLinux @adham I wish. We have been trying to coordinate with other mods too, and we are still on the platform replying to mod mails of people requesting to join the private subreddits. It’s necessary though, cause it gives us possibilities to reply to them with resources about the protest, so the userbase can also understand what exactly is happening and WHY.

@OtomeKame @BrodieOnLinux That's fair, people can be hard to manage and especially when they just wanna log on to their favorite website to just find nothing and chaos. I salute you for the effort.
