@Polaris When you click on the three dots at the bottom of a post, there's an option to block the domain that post is from. I'd suggest doing that for both one of the people from poa.st and one of the people from nicecrew.digital.I'm sure the instances will be blocked eventually by ours, but that'll screen out people from those two instances now.

@SweetAIBelleOh, these instances have some sort of highly anti-brony userbase? I saw those responses, it was even uncomfortable to look, and really confusing, got the same question as @Polaris, what was happening there?

@Quilly @Polaris Yeah, trolls and white supremacists and such end up having their own instances, because no other instances will take them (and any that do *become* troll instances).Part of the fediverse is that your instance can block other problematic instances, but until they do, those instances can be a problem.

I've interacted with quite a few people on poa.st and always had a positive experience, including the pony stuff I tend to slingshot around.Its a really big server though, so might be a few asshats in the mix.Federation is a wondrous thing, why cull entire servers? The only thing I find myself blocking are "news" bots that suddenly started popping up recently. Even then its just single accounts.

@soapone @Quilly @Polaris You generally block servers because those servers either encourage troublemaking, or won't take action against them, which *causes* them to have a lot of troublemakers.Other instances have already blocked them. If you look at mas.to's moderated server list, for example, you'll see both of them are on the list.https://mas.to/about

You won't be seeing them again.I'm so sorry that we didn't respond to this hate sooner (we got IRL things to deal with too) and I thank those who reported them and I'll advice everyone here not to engage with them any further, and please don't let any of their words get to you.If there are more users to report, please do so.I have already messaged @C_Chell to block these instances, if needs be which from the sounds of it, is probably to end up that way.Something new could turn up, and it could just be the simple minority within the server(s) all along, depending on the ratio and whether or not the admins/mods in them are doing anything about it.I don't like doing it, but if this doesn't get sorted on their end we will have to block it. This will be on the mods/admins of that server, not the users in them who are nice.

@Shredd_Tone @Polaris @Quilly @SunriseBlue @soapone @C_Chell Totally understand, as I've had things blow up I needed to moderate while I was busy at work myself.Given that all those servers are already on at least one other instance's block list, I expect those servers have been problematic in the past.(And one of the messages saying that our instance *hasn't blocked them yet* implies their instance gets blocked often...)
