Google made it official that important apps like Messaging and Dialer are no longer maintained in the Android Open Source project. @grote Glad I left Android based operating systems. Don't most degoogled OS's have their own dialer app though ? If they didn't you could use a third party one like Simple Dialer. I used Matrix; XMPP; etc for messaging and when I need SMS I used Silence anyways.

@grote I don't understand.The linked pages are not articles with any information either.Are you saying custom Android OS like LinnaegeOS will be forced to use Google's dialer and Google Messages?Because that's only possible if Android stops being Open Source!Anyway, maybe I better start learning to use Linux phones and ditching banking apps. @PublicLewdness @groteExactly. @iode uses QKSMS as its default SMS app. So, this will be one hell of a change.I used Matrix; XMPP; etc for messaging Good luck getting family members or work colleague to even care about hearing what those are, let alone using it LOL

@eliasr @grote @linmob would be cool if Linuxphones were actually usable lolLast time I tried neither postmarketos, not even sailfish os was able to show cell broadcasts for example.
