       I slept on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds because I'd been burned on ENT, DIS and PIC. But fuck me, they got it right, a proper Star Trek at last! I hope they get to keep making this.

       @danderson it's great! We have been calling it "Star Trek: Low Stakes" in our house because they rarely find themselves trying to save the entire universe, which is as it should be

       @simon My only critique of SNW S1 relates a teeny bit to that: the planet of the week is all low stakes, not the entire universe stuff, but every episode feels obligated to confront the intense, deep-seated trauma/secrets of one of the main characters.Some of those are fine, but like DS9 waited 160 episodes before tackling PTSD. Having two characters per episode reveal their traumatic past and dark secrets is a bit much. Hopefully that calms down after a bit.
