Cool. I think I vaguely remember this film about when it came out. I don't know why, but I watch so many just dumb kiddie movies sometimes. That's how you change and create new habits, entirely new lifestyles. Like, at the very least, you can get up and go to the park, watch people skate. Or whatever it may be. Sure they suck, but it's never the end of the world, like your life depends on it... How you handle and regulate your emotions and especially emotional responses is important. Practice stoicism, and simply thinking about worst case scenarios, in a healthy way, maybe... Although it can seem and feel impossible, we are fully capable and have the power to change how we think, feel, how we react to things. We can do this on such a fundamental level that we rewire the pathways in our brain, if done consistently, routinely, building habit... We can change our personalities in a fundamental way. We can change our lives, for the better, always - that option and potential is always there.

Maybe your interpretation of what they do is off too - wouldn't you say it's reasonable and entirely justified for parents to be upset in general if their children, especially if adults, lost their job? Ultimately, in most cases, parents want the best of us... and we should want the best for ourselves too. And worst case scenario, you get fired... so what... all temporary, like most things. Worst case scenario, realistically, is that it sucks, and then you have to find a new job, and eventually get a new job. That's it. Not the end of the world, nothing requiring any crazy emotional response, you are not doomed, etc. Just sucks...

Of course, it's in the past now, but as kids a lot of our lives are dependent on our parents. You never paid attention in class, but did your parents ever support you in this aspect of yourself where you were lacking? Maybe getting you checked out by a therapist, doctor, for ADHD, or whatever. Did your parents ever especially push you to do good in school, did they spend a lot of special time one on one, doing homework, helping you. Did they push you to be better? Or were they kind of just there being the ones to see your report card and getting upset that you didn't get an A, but not particularly doing anything else to help you. We can't always blame ourselves for what we did as children. We were children. Children don't always understand long term consequences, they can't always help themselves or figure out how, they need support from adults, especially loving and caring parents, who are also not too loving and caring in the way that they can potentially coddle you instead of push you to be better in a helpful productive way. You need to find yourself, figure out who you are, what you have to offer to yourself and others... and if there is nothing you can see, you have to rebuild yourself to be a better person for yourself and others. Of course you set up a vicious cycle for yourself expecting others to fulfull you and complete your life. Of course people don't want to be with someone who offers them nothing in return for what they bring to the table. Relationships should be about healthy balance. You should both equally be beneficial for each other. Not only romantically, but with friends, family... You have to learn to become your best friend. Learn how to enjoy your time alone, learn to enjoy time with yourself. Really learn to value the good things that you have to offer as a person, your good qualities, etc. Most people like to feel good. They don't like drama or want drama in their lives, they want a healthy, relaxed life. They want to smile, laugh, be happy. Spend time with people they love and care about in a meaningful way. If you want to attract good people in your life then you need to learn to be the best person you can be. Get rid of old toxic traits, etc...

Point is you can change but you have to put in effort and try. Most importantly you have to want to. Who wants to be around toxic people? A person needs to have good redeemable qualities. Sought after and valuable qualities include being a kind person, respectful, empathetic. Be able to laugh, have a sense of human, be fun to be around, to some extent. The qualities you look for in others, is what others often will look for in you. You can't blame others for not wanting to be with someone who doesn't bring value to their life. That's why it's important to focus on changing and becoming that friend or partner you want from others. For someone with bpd, again, I imagine, working on regulating and controlling your emotions and emotional reactions is important. Work on feelings of jealousy, build self confidence, etc... I remember having a friend with a gf with bpd. Absolutely crazy. Guy did nothing wrong, was entirely loyal, never did anything to show he was interested in anyone else - and still, she would have emotional breakdowns and even violent ones where she would hold a knife and stop him from leaving to go see a friend. It's a "get them before they get me" mentality. It needs to go.

That is why women are mothers and commonly caretakers. So it is unusual. See those younger years are when people TRAP themselves in relationships, often leading to divorce later down the line. In a lot of cases. Younger people aren't fully mentally developed. They can make dumb decisions, lifelong altering decisions, such as marriage, having children, etc, when they aren't ready. If people give it some time and fully develop themselves mentally, learn to love themselves, learn how to love others, take care of themselves and others, then imo, likelihood of getting married and having a lifelong marriage and relationship is more likely. There are tons of people above age 22, age 30, mature people willing to have healthy mature relationships. But people learn by these ages that they don't want toxic or incompatible ones.

Especially with millenials, and now younger generations, they want to give themselves more time before getting married and falling in to the trap and cycle of "get a job, get married, have kids..." Not to say that is great for a lot of people, but it used to be especially like a sort of programming. People and young people felt like they had to do something a particular way. Ultimately it feeds the system of society, makes $$$. Younger generations aren't falling for it so much anymore. I think age 30 is a fantastic age to consider marriage, by then most people know and have figured out what they want.

But losing a child is something neither you or me could likely relate to. It's something that could very well play out in their minds for the rest of their lives. What they could have done better to help you, etc... people feel a lot of guilt, and as parents it is like you are their responsibility. You would at the very least want to leave your parents and people who care about you a letter written in a positive way. Leaving on a positive note. Reminding them it's not their fault and nothing they could have done would have changed your decision. I'm not saying you should end it, obviously, I know you have potential to change, and I believe in you. Just takes some time and effort, and a change in your state of mind. Maybe therapy, etc. ... I was diagnosed with asperger's when I was 6. the cancer doctors told my mom I should get evaluated because autism was found in a large percentage of children who underwent chemo. I know that aspergers on its own can make life a lot more difficult for people. But with time, they learn to manage, and adapt with what they have, and what they are capable of. Because aspergers can effects a person's ability to understand more social things. More of the nuanced social things that other people have no problem understanding and "getting". So if you are someone who wants a healthy relationship, of course you have it more tough by default, you will need to put in more effort and really want to learn more about social nuance and the dynamics of it. It might help you to focus your attention on researching things specifically related to people, relationships, psychology. Many people with aspergers have the ability to hyperfocus and fixate on things that interest them, so if you started to get the ball rolling, it could become more of an interest and maybe even passion.
