@stoic It is not the most expensive pup we have purchased. my wife has expensive tastes and tends to like rarer breeds, which makes them expensive.

@Phil Whatever floats her boat.I've paid a lot for pure breeds and I have adopted from the pound. There isn't a noticible difference in quality of puppy. Sometimes even the pure breeds have more health problems from inbreeding.I'd rather be patient, wait, and find the puppy I want for a fair price.Plus I get bonus points for being able to save them from being killed too. In a year or two I am going to start looking for a greater swiss mountain dog, great pyranese, or a golden retriever.

@stoic I have adopted many dogs from shelters. The best dog I ever had came from one. Pic below. We have a golden retriever they are nice dogs and reasonably priced. We looked at Great Pyrenees. They are pretty expensive.

@CONSERVATARIAN @stoic When? During the Covid lock downs prices skyrocketed as people were home and everybody wanted a dog. At the time Berners were 3-4k but demand has fallen off a cliff for new dogs and prices are dropping quickly.

@CONSERVATARIAN I can just see the teeth marks on the base boards and the drywall corners and my shoes. not to mention the vet bills. My daughter said that we must have spent millions on pets on our lives. This made me curious. i keep detailed financial records (anal about it) So i ran a query on the category pets. Since getting married it comes to $136,962.34 not even close to a million. This is everything spent related to pets.
