@Mummabear There were mostly a few researchers (historians) who had written about this. It was articles (later a book) by Maciej Zaremba https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maciej_Zaremba that really brought this into the light. At first the soc dem govt did not want to give them any compensation, and eventually they did (imho a measly sum). The Swedish sterilization laws were a major inspiration for the Nazis. And we got a general abortion law about the same time the sterilization law was taken away.

@Mummabear Most countries had sterilization laws for a long time. And apparently some still have. But today we have organ harvesting and trade in baby parts. Mr and Mrs Gnats and friends sterilized many women in Kenya. And in past 3 years probably around the world. It is more streamlined now. And the euthanasia enthusiasm in some quarters feel a bit like Jamestown. Why force people when you can make them hate themselves? :/
