@FelonyCommitter I got wrangled into buying it by my friends.Those $70 are probably more than I paid for entertainment all my life to this point.Diablo IV review: Overpriced, but nonetheless fun game.HOWEVER: It's always online, so you can't chat the nigger word.But if you're playing with friends, or by yourself, it's not an issue.I'd say it's a polished game 7.5~8 / 10 , much better than I expected.Would be worth $60 if it wasn't always online, I hate that.It's currently overpriced in my opinion.If they keep adding end-game content, and you REALLY like games of this genre, and the Diablo series in particular, you'll get your money's worth.Campaign is about 10 hours long (according to a guy who ran through it as fast as he could).There's dozens of hours of content, side missions, world events, dungeons.• Design change:It's an open world... which essentially means, the outside world is not randomly generated, though some dungeons still are.So there are some nice set pieces, and collectibles hidden around.Other than that, it doesn't really affect the game.There's a horse!But you only get it really late into the game :(A lot more action oriented than previous Diablo titles, that had more focus on resource management.There's even a dodge button now, and you will use it.The skill tree only has a handful of skills that use your characters main resource (energy / mana / rage / etc...).Most skills are on cooldown, and you can use them whenever they're ready.You're not expected to be using many skills at any given time.One main, one resource costing, and 4 others.Skills have more synergy.It's less: Fire ball, ice spike, lighting bolt.And more:Every third shot weakens the enemy, your arrows pierce weakened enemies.• Depth was added:A large passive skill tree for high levels to feed the autism of hardcore players, similar to Path of Exile.A lot of emphasis on equipment upgrade and optimization.Legendary equipment can drastically alter your character's abilities, and change your play style, so there's more depth to character builds, which was barely a thing in previous titles.• Some things were simplified:The inventory isn't a Tetris game anymore, you can carry X amount of items.Items no longer need to be "identified", that mechanic is gone.There's no potions belt, it's just healing charges, you start with 4, but the amount increases with quests and such, and potion strength can be upgraded.There's no portal scrolls either, you can teleport to any waypoint you unlocked, or to the main town, at any moment.If you're in a dungeon, you can teleport outside whenever.It does take a few seconds, and you can be interrupted by enemies, so you can't use it to pull out of a fight.

@FelonyCommitter I don't trust modern western media to not insert something woke in there at some point and immediately take me out of the game. I also don't trust a company that took out pictures of pixelated females and replaced them with bowls of fruit after a sex scandal.Xenonauts 2 is due soon, and that's all I care about. That game is one of the best to "ironman".

@MeBigbrain @FelonyCommitter I wouldn't say MOBA has a monopoly on not needing Town Portal scrolls, it's just fast travel that can be interrupted.It definitely borrows many concepts from various genres.A move away from the Diablo mold but not too much, which I think overall is good.Most of it I consider quality of life improvements.And like I said, a lot more action, but it depends on your class and build.As a Rogue, you have to keep moving, and use your skills wisely.As a summon focus Druid or Necromancer, less skill is needed.Supports many play styles.You never really needed to buy identify scrolls or TP scrolls after a few levels, in Diablo 2.It just became tedium very quickly, so giving for free makes sense design-wise.Also, there are consumables you can craft, I forgot to mention that.Elemental Resistance potions that also give an XP boost, but you can only have 1 active at a time.They last for 30 minutes, pretty good.
