I'm trying to learn to trust my instincts about my own safety more. It's ok to leave a situation that doesn't feel safe, even if you can't exactly explain why in that moment.

I've also been making rules for myself that make it easier to make good judgements about safety. I don't let people I don't know drive me around alone (unless I'm specifically paying them to do that, like in a taxi or a bus). If I find myself in a situation where someone has a gun, I leave.

(The gun thing has exceptions, like uniformed security and cops. That's for the sake of practicality, not because I think cops can be trusted with guns.)

@BathysphereHat Yeah, nobody really wants to ban all guns.Everybody wants to limit guns only to their friends and allies so they can use them to oppress those that they hate.I'm sorry that you consider the police friends and allies, since they are working in support of a government that engages in mass murder, like they did in Iraq, on a regular basis.Why should only the very worst psychopaths in society be armed?

@BathysphereHat If I was considering to go to either of those things and the situation looked like it called for a gun... I just wouldn't go. Why the hell would you need a gun in either situation?Of course there are people out here open carrying pistols to wal mart and combat knives to game stores.
