i see, this new battery is slightly smaller not only in size, but also capacity, comparing with the original one.when it gets to around 20% it starts discharging super fast and it even makes the phone slower, interesting

@Quilly Well, it's probably not actually making the phone slower. Most modern operating systems will start to more aggressively throttle CPU and GPU functions to help extend the time left when you go below a threshold (usually 15-20%).

@Quilly I'm not sure if it still is a thing these days but years ago i would have to "calibrate the battery" by letting it completely discharge then charge it fully while powered off. Maybe that could help? google it!

@Quilly Ahhh I see. Interesting that it was posted ..i *think* aroudn the same time I last did that lol. Was an old Note 4. Well maybe your phone will sort itself out with more usage. I still have Accubattery to keep an eye on things though (i think you said the same?)

@Quilly Lithium batteries do have a pretty hard falloff, but I suspect that your phone still thinks it has the previous battery in it. It'll probably figure it out eventually? Also, from the other message, light scratches and dings are kind expected in a super-cheap cell, but punctures (if it smells like a sharpie, it has a hole in it) or big dents are a big no-go, though those are usually somewhat obvious.(Image of dented batteries borrowed from oscarliang.com, had to attach to add alt text)

@LapsusHmm yeah, let's see how it goesAnd the battery from the image, whoa that's a punch! This one is definitely better than that. It had just like, some small imperfections, and i didn't felt any smell coming from it

@Quilly Yeah, if anywhere shipped a battery like that, I'd be very surprised. Flying FPV really really abuses batteries, most of the time, lol. Also, I think you mentioned accubattery? I've been using that for ages to limit charge to about 80%, and my phones are much happier for it, though if your capacity is already smaller from the smaller battery, that might be too big a hit, lol

@LapsusYeah hahaFlying FPV? What's that? And yeah, Acc is great, i usually limit it at 91% tho as i said before

@Quilly @Lapsus Typically flying FPV is using a headset on a drone with a camera on it, though some people use planes and such. It's a fun time but you constantly need to manage your batteries cause they're super sensitive

@Lapsus @Quilly No problem, Quilly! Lapsus can I ask what kind of setup you're running for FPV? I've been tempted to get back in as I had only ever borrowed equipment and I'm curious on what you're running. If not it's cool just been looking at it a lot

@Radi_Daydream @Quilly I was talking about this with someone else recently, so I even have photos of my (currently tiny) fleet! I may need to increase the character limit on my instance, though.I've got a 3" quadcopter with more power than sense, a 4" hex with gps for cruising and long range, both running slightly older DJI vistas for video, nebula pro cameras, dji goggles v1, and ELRS for control and telemetry stuck in the back of a somewhat upgraded tx16s radio.Photos as replies in a few.

@Radi_Daydream @Quilly Here's my 3" and 4", the only ones currently in a flyable state. Both are currently running betaflight on the flight controllers and Bluejay on the ESCs to get that sweet, sweet RPM filtering. The quad was originally analog video but I got hooked as soon as I tried digital.3" has a mamba f405 mini flight stack with a 4-in-1 4S 25A ESC4" has a Goku F405 hex nano flight stack with (I think?) the 6-in-1 4S 13A ESC

@Lapsus @Quilly Do you have more in a not flyable state? tbh never actually seen a hexdrone before, all the ones I've flown/seen in person have all been quads so that's actually super neat to see, does it weigh more or is it a lighter material to make up for it? I don't know a lot about them sorry for all the questions haha

@Radi_Daydream @Quilly Also, related to earlier, I'm definitely a box radio kinda guy, as opposed to the more gamepad style ones. I fly mostly-pinch instead of thumbs only, so the size helps.I have an additional hex that's almost the same, but I lost the GPS and blew an ESC in a crash, so I've got it around for spare parts. Probably going to pull the motors and put them onto something tiny.I also have a big chungus ancient quad with 14" propellers, but it hasn't flown in a decade.

@Lapsus @Quilly nah we totally get that. I have kinda small hands so larger sizes (which I technically had the option to get) kinda cause strain cause I also have wrist problems. So smaller controller is much better here. Here's the one I have, small and basically baby's first controller but once I get a drone and things up and running i think it'll be fine. The actual drone is a bit of an investment though so it's a both further out in the future other than borrowing! A 14" sounds kinda silly big lmao

@Radi_Daydream @Quilly The tx12 is a great radio! It runs the same software as my larger one, and I'm reasonably sure you can actually get miniature versions of my silly gimbals for it, even! One thing with flying with a larger radio, or having hand problems, using a lanyard to actually hold the radio up helps a TON with my flying, to the point where I even use it in the simulator. Finding one that you actually trust to hold your expensive radio up is another matter entirely, though!

@Lapsus @Quilly Yeah, wrist problems are from my melee days so it can be a lot at times. It's the reason I'm switching my KB layout and redesigning a bunch of small stuff in my life so they hurt a bit less. You have any lanyard suggestions? Seems like you would know a few ones and I can just add them to my already silly long list of things to get for drone stuff! Tbh having this talk is kinda bumping it all up my priority queue a bit I forgot how excited I get to fly the things

@Radi_Daydream @Quilly My goggles are the old DJI PFV v1 goggles, with some stubby LHCP antennas to fit better into my bag.The radio is a radiomaster TX16S with the upgraded ag01 all-metal gimbals and the LED rings because they look cool :starlight_grin:There's also a 1W ELRS module in the back of the radio.

@Radi_Daydream @Quilly (sorry if we're boring you Quilly, lol) I'm going to echo Joshua Bardwell here and suggest the newbeedrone lanyard, as I got to use one at my BF's place and it's pretty great. I'm currently using the Ethix lanyard (and goggle strap!) and they're pretty great too.
