I would be very concerned about this type of machine learning, this is the start to Apple attempting to block people from sharing consensual photos or videos. First it starts with a safety feature but eventually they may block it entirely, they may even block the camera from taking those kinds of photographs, hot take but corporations should not have this level of control over users.https://www.macrumors.com/2023/06/07/ios-17-block-nude-photos/?fbclid=IwAR31AhFwY9uSqFompVDXq-josLyQq_mlV6zucKQGwZfx8e6Zua6rl_lVCFA

@me Reminds me of the cases where a parent got falsely accused of CSAM because they contacted their pediatrician during 'Rona and asking for medical adivce and an appointment due to genital irritations of their son.

@me I think this is why fighting over hardware is so important. If a corporation has enough control to block your choice of software using hardware mechanisms (or even integrate something like this into the hardware), that always leaves you open to being surveiled, restricted and abused. If you had control over the device you buy otoh, this would be a great feature.

@me hopefully it disproportionately prevents unsolicited image viewing, but I completely agree it should be fully in the user’s control. I wish so dearly for a Linux phone with performance and feature parity with iPhones.
