What would make you woke is if you hired minorities, especially racial minorities, over anybody else purely on the basis that they are minorities, ignoring qualifications, meaning you're likely to hire someone less qualified. Something else that would make you woke is the belief that all present white people are guilty of the crimes of slavery of their ancestors and that they need to repent for those crimes. This one should be easy for you to identify and reject as a proposition, as it is similar to how Christians think humans are guilty because of the original sin that Adam and Eve committed. Closely tied to this is also the view that all white people are inherently evil and racist, but other races (most often black people) are simply incapable of being racist. Another frequent sign is if you think all men are in some form inherently evil, sexists and rapists, and that women are incapable of the same flaws men can exhibit. Close to this is thinking any form of criticism or insult thrown at a woman is automatically sexist. Also any belief in a magical patriarchy that somehow oppresses men too, or complaining about toxic masculinity, while ignoring toxic femininity is another sign closely tied to wokeness. There are probably a lot more, but these are the most common beliefs woke people hold.

Bits of hardware work, and then they don't. I had a newer thinkpad 2-in-one laptop. Installed linux, touch screen worked in the past according to some forums I saw, but when I installed it at some point they updated something so it no longer worked. With some distros the nub worked, and others it didn't. An update would trash or break something so often that it felt like I spent more time installing linux than using it, which is all linux seems to be good at. I'd install some software, like kicad or CIAO, and it would run like trash. Then I'd run it on a mac, and it would work flawlessly.People only use linux because they are weird yuppies who "hate the corporations man". Broken clock moment.

It was okay for school work, like writing papers. Really basic stuff. I'm definitely not a "power user", skilled at it's more technical aspects. I'm not one for windows or macOS either, and those have a tendency to "just work" in most instances which I appreciate.I can't understand why it would really be better at anything over any other OS, beyond what someone chose to write software for. In my experience, a lot of science stuff is just as compatible with mac now. They seems pretty ubiquitous now.

Ah... maybe this is a bad analogy, but it's like a really old car. The car is great in theory, simple, easy to work on, plentiful cheap parts, but heaven knows what's going to break in it, and all I know for certain is that something will break soon. So you spend a lot of time tinkering with it. That can be fun if you're into that, but it's not when you need it to work. When I have to use a linux machine, it has one job, and that's all I use it for. I feel like I'm walking on eggshells with it otherwise. Just installing another program to it might break something else. That's fine, hell maybe that's better than the other's and their forced updates in this role, but if I want something for personal use (aka used for more than one thing) I just wouldn't use it. I don't like tinkering with my os to get it to do something simple.An example, I was using mint a few years ago, and I tried to copy a large mutli-gigabite file to a flash drive. It would send well at first, and eventually the transfer speed would slowly drop to zero, and then the transfer would fail. It wasn't the flash driver, it wasn't the computer or usb port, it was linux mint, and I have no idea why. That kind of crap is incredibly frustrating to put up with.

Yeah I fully get that, linux is a cludgey pile of shit held together by more cludge that will randomly break in strange ways. It would be nice if it just worked without needing to run obscure command line instructions to fix things.I think the problem is that the norm for computers is "buggy piece of shit", and for a few years windows wasn't like that and would just work which gave people the impression that they could just buy a computer and have it work instead of it being like a car that needs continual maintenance. But microsoft has thrown that away and now every OS is a pile of shit, but one of them lets you go out of your way to fix it.

Not because of the constant violations of privacy and the constant changes to the start menu, but rather because Microsoft INSISTS in putting ads in a product that's supposed to cost over 200 dollars and runs like shit. I don't even care about bloatware as long as it works, every Windows version after 7 just feels terrible to use. At least with Plasma I can change the layout to my liking, granted Linux has its issues especially when it comes to stability and outdated software (X11 anyone?), but at the same time I have a far more pleasant experience using linux and a custom DE than using Windows. If anything the tech industry is controlled by communists cliques that demand the old guard make changes for them.

If I have to "git gud" in order to so something that every other OS does as a basic part of it's operation, it's trash.Meanwhile at my college, we have a spectrometer that, because it uses a weird type of connection, the only computer that can run is is a Toshiba laptop running windows 95. It still works even though it's nearly 30 years old. The intro physics labs all use computers running XP. They still work despite being over 20.I've never encountered the elusive windows 'does a flip' error. When I have, it's always been because the hardware was failing and not because of the OS itself (power supply or hdd failure, or something with the cooling on the cpu being the most common causes). When other people claim they have, the addendum I usually here is that they spend the 48 hours before the crash downloading obscure Minecraft mods off U torrent.
