They aren’t what I consider ‘real’ instances, so I have no positive opinion about them. Poa.st? Shitpost.Cloud? NCD? Decayable.Ink? Those are real instances as an example. They allow for real dialogue, where I can be around people who say real - though oftentimes unpleasant but truthful - things.I judge participation in reality based upon the spectrum of the ideas allowed to be expressed.

I could rant forever about the Fandom takeover of Wikia especially since it’s such a broad and storied example of ideologues matching through alternative hobbies such as anime, manga and video games, weasling their way into positions of “nerd cred authority” and then taking over groups, forums, sites and even the cultures of those hobbies from there.

@Owl @Hoss yup, basically take sites made by dedicated autists a decade prior, getting up to the top and suddenly changing it. Wookieepedia is probably the peak example, one of the earliest and most well written fiction wikis to the point where it was used by the creators themselves as a reference. As of 2023 it's ridiculous, there's a few users who's whole job is to add character pronouns even to old lore (so can't even enjoy the EU as a period piece) , they've got a bot who's whole purpose of is to delink the site from the Russian version of the wiki and half the user profiles are just bragging about what faggots they are.
