This is a good article talking about the potential damage generative AI, in the hands of very large tech companies, is going to do to traditional content creators. I think the answer is pretty easy though: Google, Microsoft, et al should be paying content creators if their generative AI engine is trained on, or otherwise utilizes, someone else's content. @chrisa @tilvids What's interesting about this is how the major platforms are monetizing their user's content significantly. Reddit and Twitter now are both charging substantial sums of money for API access but not sharing those revenues with those who contribute content to their platforms.

@lonseidman @chrisa And if you think these large tech companies are going to say anything about it...you'll be disappointed. It will be up to the collective will of creators to force them to be held to account.
