So I work in safety at Amazon. They just replaced 7 top positions in my org with women, LGBTQIA/=×&$*÷*, and minorities. This is how ESG works. If you're white, male, hetero and living a normal life, you will not get promoted. I have a boss who was promoted because "it's her turn." She has turned out to be one of the worst leaders I've ever had. She's always OOTO, getting "sick," etc. I'm not saying I should have been promoted in her place, but damn. This is ESG. A kakistocracy.

@CrimeaRiver I can only imagine how frustrating that is. A friend of mine is the dreaded white middle ager. He is super woke and was on the DEI team at a MN based software company. He got fired in the first round of layoffs a year ago and has had a terrible time getting hired. At least you know that there is little chance of getting promoted so you don't work yourself to death. Are there any opportunities outside of Amazon that you could quietly pursue?

@CrimeaRiver I have a friend high up at Verizon in Irvine. He was recently was passed up for a promotion for someone with less experience. He’s friends with his boss and he told him it was because she’s a Latina. My friend said he’s ok with that because “women socks justive bla blah”

@CrimeaRiver Not an expert on policy but did all those women work in safety first & then apply for the promotion? Have you been there longer than they have? Did you take on additional training to improve your qualifications? Lots of factors go into qualifying for a promotion. About your boss, don't you get only a certain # of sick days & anything additional needs to be approved by HR?If you think the promotions were biased, why not talk to HR?

@HigherGround Those moves happened 3 levels up from me. They're taking operations people and moving them into safety roles. My guess is that they will allow operations to basically do.whatever they want, and come up with a justification as to why it's okay. It's a running joke about my boss. She just randomly gets a fever, etc. She's worked her way up from a tier 1 associate packing boxes, so it may very well have been her turn. But 99% of life is showing up.

@CrimeaRiver same thing happened at my company. They went crazy reorganizing departments and moving women, and minority women, into managerial positions. My boss as well as the manager of one of the other engineering depts. I work with are both women who do not have the qualifications for the positions they now have, and it shows. But ESG!!!!
