As I neither work for an academic institution nor a large corporate, getting access to standards documentation and research papers is a major pain. So much knowledge is paywalled, and I often don't know before hunting down and reading it whether it will be of any use to me.

@boneskullThat already exists, at least to the extent standards are included in law globally.https://public.resource.org/ @dentangle

@webmink @boneskull Looking at that site, I'm afraid I'm none the wiser. No search, no downloads. What does it do? How would I use it to obtain, say, the ISO 3103 standard for brewing a standard cup of (terrible) tea? Or to find the PDF of the C17 standard (the actual standard, not the "final draft" we all use)?

@dentangle It's built for those coming from the direction of seeking a standard mentioned in a law. rather than the standard as-such, and additionally has been somewhat diverted lately into publishing otherwise-concealed law. I have a hunch your use-case has not been considered yet. I am certain Carl Malamud would welcome help to fix that.@boneskull
