@lizstl13 so Manchin's possibility of running as a center right presidential candidate on the No Labels ticket would undercut Trump's viability, or is it just that anything is the ready excuse for Biden being a deeply flawed candidate that would've lost in '20 if not for covid?Whats the logic when libertarian candidates are also in the mix, are they the reason why Trump won in '16 & lost in '20? Are 3rd party candidates only affect Dem nominee and helps GOP nominee?

@Sean Biden is not deeply flawed. Trump won because of massive amounts of help from Russia. Liberal third party candidates peel away votes from the Democratic nominee.

@lizstl13 massive amount of help in '16, and not enough help in '20, or we take it that a record high negative partisanship resulted in 2 close presidential elections with opposite results? What's the same with MAGA's stolen election and "I'm With Her" stolen election? Neither claim is based on a falsifiable premise.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falsifiability

@Sean Despite the fact that Trump lost the popular vote in 2016 help from his Russian friends gave him enough voters in tossup states to send him to DC. His catastrophically poor response to Covid killed hundreds of thousands of his supporters and helped send Trump home.

@lizstl13 the aggregate margin of victory for 5 states in '20 was smaller than it was for the aggregate margin of victory for 3 states in '16. Vote Blue No Matter Who (VBNMW) and MAGA are victims of the same lack of critical thinking, just berate everyone who's not already on your side to shame them to vote for a candidate that is not at all congruent to the values held by voters "but at least (s)he's not that asshole, (s)he's our asshole".#politicsisnotateamsport

@adiz @lizstl13It's because the Democratic Party isn't particularly held to democratic principles. Neither party is interested in making the electoral process more democratic. I'm the GOP controlled states they suppress voters ability to vote unless there's a likelihood that they'll vote their way. In Democratic held states they ensure that dissent is squash suppressing ballot access, NYS' unitary party controlled legislature eliminated 3rd parties last year.

@Sean@liberal.city Yeah, well, the entire American political system isn't and has really never been democratic. Republicans and Democrats are just two heads of a single hydra. There's really no difference between them whatsoever in anything of real macro-level importance. And, they work together to block out any competition from their oligarchic (monopolistic---they're the same hydra, remember? [separating them semantically is just a cognitive disservice]) position over US politik. @lizstl13@mastodon.sdf.org

@adiz @lizstl13Dr. MLK Jr said it best in his "I Have A Dream" Speech:We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote.60 years has gone by and it's still true as it was then. Full shit sandwich, or half a shit sandwich, you'll still be eating shit. https://www.npr.org/2010/01/18/122701268/i-have-a-dream-speech-in-its-entirety
