I work in a predominantly Black warehouse. The most useless people get weeded out because the company that owns it, thanks to them paying lipservice to Black Lives Matter, Gay Pride, and other diversity initiatives, doesn’t get sued despite a majority of the firings being Black.The people I work with are generally good in the warehouse, but every time I become somewhat friendly with a co-worker, almost to the last, at some point they reveal they’re a felon who committed some kind of violent crime in the past, or sold highly addictive drugs on the street, or some other criminal act. Sometimes not felons, but if it’s not them then they will tell me about a friend who did this or that criminal thing.I don’t ask them to tell me about it! They just tell me! They’re so casual about it because that is basically part of who they are as a people. I have never had this kind of experience working in predominantly White workplaces. Worst from them would be bar fights from 10 years ago or getting caught with weed they were smoking as a kid, maybe they were caught drinking alcohol underage or whatever.
