       Hi #gamedev people! Just moved there from Twitter and I'm a bit clueless about how Mastodon works, all I know that it's decentralized. What are some top things I need to know?

       @amasuri don't worry about how the platform works behind the scenes just yet. Just know that A) your home feed will only show who you follow, and what they *boost* (not their favorites).B) your local timeline will only show posts within your instance made by those in that instance (like me!). No boosts, just fresh, chronological posts C) if you want to see more variety, search and follow hashtags! And post with them.D) Federated timeline is *everyone*, regardless of instance.        @DoctorBLLK @amasuri Sorry to butt in but quick correction on D: The federated timeline is *everyone your home instance is aware of* - i.e. that's favourites, boosts, and posts of all people on your local instance plus accounts anyone on your local instance follow :blobcatthumbsup:
