curious if other fairphone users have the same issue at times: sometimes when i connect my phone to charge it up, it says "connected, not charging". anyone having an idea why that is?

@puniko@mk.absturztau.be I don't have a fairphone, but my laptop has done that before. I think its to preserve battery life, but if you're low it should always start charging afaik

@puniko lipo cells lifespan is longest if the cell is held between ~25% and ~80% of its capacity, so firmware authors that are particularly on the ball will soft block the charger at that level. the steam deck is supposed to do this if it thinks its being recharged often.:blobcatpain: now i'm sad that its something stupid instead of something very smrat

@puniko@mk.absturztau.be not specific to fairphone, could be any one of:- a charge control end threshold or start threshold is set and current state of charge is out of that range so charging is disabled- charging is disabled in BMS somehow and the driver sees that- power supply not delivering enough power to charge the battery

@rand@port.mk - it happens sometimes and seemingly unrelated to the charge percentage- BMS?- power supply does deliver enough power, since when i reboot the device, it does start charging

@puniko I don't have a fairphone, but I've had that message before on my Android if I didn't have enough amps to draw from. That could be from bad cable, loose connection, dirt in charger port, broken charger port, unstable or insufficient power, bad luck, or even the phone using more power than it's supposed to such as if it's running too many apps, bright screen, etc...
