Seeing people here and around mentioning the upcoming annual #Pride celebrations / marches / events have reminded me that somehow it is FORTY YEARS since I was an organiser of London's first "Lesbian and Gay Pride" in 1983.It wasn't the first 'pride' but it was when 'lesbian' got added to the name, (bisexual and transgender arriving much much later). The addition wasn't well-received, either by gay men or, amazingly, by many women's places who didn't actually like the word 'lesbian', preferring 'gay women', 'dykes', or queer. This gave us fundraising problems for a while.I was also the first _out_ bisexual on the organising collective. Go me. 🙄

@AlisonW There are many things that people have to be proud of in life, and yet for some reason always manage to choose one of the most insignificant and cowardly things about them that is associated with pedophilia and child rape.
