@softinio that blog post is full of BS though.(1) #BraveBrowser is currently not replacing website ads. Their ads are part of the browser's UI, not integrated in websites, and are fully opt-in. They are taking revenue away from websites, but their default settings don't block first party ads, versus uBlock Origin which blocks everything, the second you install it.Also, products need money. Firefox sells users to Google and doesn't block ads by default as it would upset their cash cow...

@softinio (2) Paying creators or users does require identification, but that's due to KYC laws. The whole crypto thing can't work out, but it's interesting that they at least acknowledge to participate in the attention economy, trying to reward users for their attention. Also, they now have their own search engine, and you can choose to support them via a subscription instead of ads. Which isn't possible w/ Firefox, BTW...

@softinio (3) Hijacking of afilliate links was basically a bug for what is standard functionality in browsers. When you search on Google using Firefox, it sets an affiliate code which is how Firefox is getting paid. The bug was quickly fixed within a day or two.In all honesty, Firefox's controversies, e.g., Cliqz, and Mr. Robot, are worse.

@softinio There may be more valid reasons for boycotting Brave, like for example suspecting that the founder is a homophobe for a donation he did in 2008.But on the technical side the criticism is very shallow, and showing a double standard. And my problem is that boycotts benefit the big, faceless corporations, always.Speaking of the solutions presented by TFA: Chrome's Manifest v3 disallows uBlock Origin, it's only a matter of time, and Brave's users already voted against Firefox.
