Linux Mint 21.2 (/w Cinnamon 5.8 desktop) - touchpad gestures! :linuxmint: The flagship release of popular & prominent Linux Mint is almost ready for a fresh release. Gestures can be used to control media, workspace management, tiling and also window management.BTW - when could we expect Wayland to finally land on Linux Mint? :thinkhappy: => https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=4518#LinuxMint #Cinnamon #gestures #touchpad #updates @linuxmint

@toxision @Linux @linuxmint It has been implemented in KDE Plasma & GNOME. It's almost done in Xfce, and MATE & Unity have plans for it. It's just Cinnamon that are being p****s about it.

@toxision @Linux @linuxmint First of all, Xfce will still likely use X.Org for the foreseeable future, as they are also for the BSDs, which don't use Wayland AFAIK. Second, the benefits of Wayland include leaner, more modern codebases, and MUCH better multi-monitor and scaling support than X11's Xinerama. Finally, Wayland is basically the successor to the moribund X.Org; it won't be implemented that much more, and XWayland likely will remain in Linux for LONG into the future.

@toxision @Linux @linuxmint And the only pain point left is Nvidia GPUs, although slowly but surely they're catching up...
