So much of contemporary Tumblr discourse is just like"These people aren't normal about fandoms" (good)"These people aren't normal about politics" (bad)

"Writing a 1k words headcanon post with lore citations will clean your skin and cure your migraine, but if you look at someone's argument about identities for too long, you are now poisoned and need to log off and touch grass". Like, okay, fuck you too, I guess.

@comrade_lecter looking at people's arguments cleans my skin and cures my migraine, actually. whenever i spot a scuffle im inhaling this shit like it's ambrosia. also it's perusing peoples arguments that indirectly led me to many a thing i now oppose or stand with, so theres that

@comrade_lecter Yeah I don't get that. If you think deeply about fandom stuff it's not even really distinguishable from politics. I can understand people disliking toxic drama, I don't like it either, but that happens in fandom too. And there's definitely political discourse that's well thought out, not just written to start fights. Cause there definitely are people who seem primarily motivated by wanting to attack other people, in both fandom and politics. So it seems good faith/bad faith, or people's motivation and behavior, is a more meaningful distinction than politics vs fandom.
